Dear potential parents and carers,

Welcome to Broadgate Primary School. If you are thinking about schools for next September, we very much hope to see you on our open day. We run guided tours throughout the school day so that you can get a true feel for what our school is like in action. I am incredibly proud of our lovely school and the wonderful pupils we have so I look forward to meeting prospective parents in person each autumn term. Watch out for the poster advertising the date so that you can book onto one of our tours.

Choosing the correct school for your child is not easy, especially when, as is the case in Horsforth, there are so many good schools for you to choose from. I do not underestimate the scale of the decision that is facing you. As a parent myself (although mine are coming to the end of their school journey now!), I remember well the uncertainties around choosing the school that will start your child’s educational journey, and be a huge part of their lives for the next seven years. The only advice I can give you is find as much information as you can about the schools you are considering and then make your decision around the one that you feel suits you the best, for whatever reasons are driving your decision making.

At Broadgate our ethos is about being “happy, successful and confident”. We believe that that children must be happy in order to learn and make the most of their time at school. We recognise success as academic success but also success in developing as young people ready to move onto the next stage of their education at the end of their time in primary school. And in order to achieve both those things we want the children to be confident – confident to have a voice, to express themselves and to make the right decisions. We hope our broad and balanced curriculum provides the children with all the opportunities they need to develop those three attributes and play a full and active part in our happy, successful and confident school community.
