Introducing Our Nursery Team

Miss Thompson - EYFS Leader

ST

Hello, I have been working at Broadgate Primary school for many years both in the Nursery and Reception classes. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else! We are a great team not just within Reception, but across the Early Years and the school as a whole.
Outside of school I love to spend time with my family especially going on holidays and days out. Recently I have enjoyed going for long walks and spending time in my garden.
The best thing about working in Early Years is that no two days are ever the same. It is great to be able to give the children the opportunities both indoors and out to develop their own interests and personalities.

I’m looking forward to meeting you all in September.

Mrs Freeman - Nursery Teacher

HF 1

Hello! I gained a degree in Primary Education in Early Years and I have been part of the Broadgate Primary team since 2015. I share Nursery with Mrs Clay and we have a wonderful, dedicated team. We are one big family.
Some things I like to do outside of Nursery are going on walks in the countryside with my family a d our dog and visit my favourite place – the seaside! Most of all, I enjoy being a Mummy to my little boy.
My favourite food is a yummy chicken dinner and chocolate cake! My favourite animal is a dog and one of my favourite films is The Lion King!

The things I love most about working in Early Years are watching the wonderful moments when a child achieves or learns something new, no matter how big or small and I love getting to know all the different personalities of each child and their families. It is so special to be part of a child's first years and be at the very beginning of a child's education.
I look forward to meeting you all in September and have lots of fun together! smiley

Mrs Clay - EYFS and KS1 Teacher

MC

Hello! My journey at Broadgate Primary began as a trainee teacher, when I completed my teacher training in our Foundation Stage. I was then offered the chance to stay at the school as a teacher and I have stayed in EYFS ever since. I feel incredibly lucky to work within a fantastic team and at such a lovely school! I love being part of our wonderful Nursery team with Mrs Freeman, Mrs O’Hara and Mrs Blanthorn. I also spend some time teaching in our lovely Reception classes each week. I really enjoy getting to know all of our Foundation Stage children each year!

When I am not at school, I am kept very busy by my two boys! We enjoy playing together in the garden or going for a walk in the park. My favourite place in the world is Filey – I love to walk along the sands with an ice-cream! Recently, I have been enjoying doing some baking. My favourite thing to bake is a lemon drizzle cake!

The best thing about working in Early Years is that each day is filled with creativity, imagination and excitement – you never know what will happen! I love to watch our children beam with pride at their own achievements. It is even better sharing this joy with the other teachers and children, and then with their families at home time – these moments are always the highlights of the day!

Mrs O'Hara - Nursery Officer

HO

Hi, I am Mrs O'Hara and I have been part of the Nursery team at Broadgate since 2008.
Throughout my time in the Nursery I have always worked within a great team, where together we create a warm and welcoming atmosphere to both children and their parents and carers.
I qualified in June 2007 in Early Years after working many years in office work.
I have three children, a cat called Coco and a dog called Ernie. Outside of school, I enjoy pilates and I love to go on holidays in the sunshine. My favourite colour is pink and my favourite animal is a giraffe!

I really enjoy my time in the Nursery, helping the children to learn through their play, see them grow in confidence and become part of a team with their friends

Mrs Blanthorn - Nursery Nurse

SB(1)
Hello! I'm Mrs Blanthorn and I've been working with children ever since I qualified as a Level 3 Early Years practitioner in 2002. I have been at Broadgate since 2016 and love my role, I feel very lucky to be part of such a friendly, welcoming school.
I support the Nursery Teachers; Mrs Freeman and Mrs Clay and do my best to help the children in our Nursery feel happy, safe and cared for.

When I'm not at school I love to go travelling with my family, visiting places near and far, from the Yorkshire Dales to South America. My two children love to see new places too, especially if there's sunshine and a beach involved!

The thing I love most about working in Early Years is the relationships we have with the children we teach as well as their families. A child's educational journey begins with Early Years, so I hope to make it as happy and fun a start as possible!
