Year 1 are learning...
Topic
Our Topic this half term is All About Me! The children will have the opportunity to create fact files about themselves, draw self portraits using a range of art resources as well as learning about Piscasso! We will also link this topic to our PSHE lessons where we will be discussing and learning about feelings.
English
In English this half term the children will be learning the basics such as writing a simple sentence using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. The children will cover a wide range of books such as The Colour Monster, The Gruffalo and The Littlest Dreamer. We will begin our Phonics lessons by recapping the Set 1 sounds and then beginning Set 2 sounds.
Maths
In Maths this half term the children will be learning about place value, number bonds, addition and subtraction as well as measuring capacity.
Science
In Science we will be learning about Materials for the whole of the Autumn Term. This will allow the children lots of opportunities to explore different materials, write about experiments and draw conclusions.

Year 1 Class Information
PE
Year 1P and Year 1R have PE on a Tuesday afternoon. This half term PE will be outdoor for 1P and indoor for 1R. 1P will be focussing on learning ball skills and 1R will be focussing on dance. Please send your child to school in their PE kits on this day (black joggers, white tshirt, school jumper or cardigan and black trainers).
Homework
The children receive spellings and homework on a Friday and they will be tested on their spellings the following Friday. Homework can be marked and shown during show and tell on a Wednesday for Year 1P and on a Thursday for Year 1R.
