Headteacher's Welcome

Broadgate is a school full of joy, ambition and potential - I am both proud and privileged to lead this vibrant and caring school community. Having served as Deputy Head for eight prior years before stepping into this role, I already knew what a special place Broadgate is — but as Headteacher that realisation and understanding has strengthened and deepened considerably.

At Broadgate, we are deeply committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Our talented staff work tirelessly to ensure that each child feels valued, supported and challenged to achieve their very best.

Together, we’ve continued to build on the school’s strong foundations, nurturing a shared commitment to working closely with parents, carers and the wider community to ensure our school continues to thrive. Together, we can celebrate our children’s successes, embrace new opportunities and navigate challenges with resilience and determination.

I look forward to getting to know you all even better in the months ahead and strengthening the vital home-school partnership. Year 6 Local artist visit.

Doug Rea, a local artist in Horsforth, visited year 6 for an art workshop as part of the Horsforth Walk of Art. The year 6 children used brushes and sponges to create lovely waterfall paintings.

Sports Day

The children all competed brilliantly in sports day this year, demonstrating not only their fantastic talents as budding athletes but also their wonderful sense of sportsmanship!

Broadgate's Got Talent

Our fantastic contestants in the final of Broadgate's Got Talent 2026! The array of talent on show during each phase of the competition was absolutely incredible, from musicians to magicians and gymnastics to stand-up comedy - the children did themselves (and all of us!) proud. Getting up in front of anyone and performing can be such a daunting experience so it was fantastic to see how many children overcame their nerves and showcased themselves so wonderfully!

Vote for Arthur for Leeds Children's Mayor 2026!

As mentioned in the Autumn newsletter, we are incredibly proud that Arthur, a Broadgate Y6 pupil, has been shortlisted as one of the final eleven candidates for the Leeds Children’s Mayor. This is a fantastic achievement and a real credit to Arthur’s thoughtful ideas and commitment to making a difference for children across Leeds. Over the next few weeks, Broadgate children will have the opportunity to learn about the eleven finalists and take part in the official voting process in school, helping them experience democracy in action. Anyone under 18 in the city is eligible to vote, so please spread the word. It would be fantastic to see the children of Horsforth get behind Arthur and help make history by electing a Horsforth pupil as Leeds Children's Mayor 2026! Dear Parents & Carers, As another successful school year comes to an end, I would like to thank you sincerely for your continued support, encouragement and partnership throughout the year. Working together, we have helped our children to learn, grow and achieve so much and it has been a privilege to share in their successes. Your support for the school and for your children’s education plays a vital role in everything we achieve at Broadgate. We are already looking forward to the opportunities and experiences that await the children in the new academic year and are excited about all that lies ahead. On behalf of everyone at Broadgate, thank you once again for your support. We wish you and your families a safe, happy and restful summer break and look forward to welcoming the children back to school in September.
