Autumn Term: Friendships, Colours and Pattern

In our first few weeks of term, we welcome lots of new children to Nursery. This is a very exciting and important time and we spend lots of time getting to know our children and families, helping children to settle in to Nursery life and encouring friendships.

We then begin our Autumn term with an exploration of colour!
We spend lots of time exploring different colours through exciting activities within provision and by having a go at colour mixing in the painting area.
As Spring turns in to Autumn, we observe the changes in colour within our environment and take part in lots of festivities at the end of term.

Throughout the term, we follow and develop children's interests as they emerge, through planning and provision. This allows children to explore and develop these interests in greater depth within a range of contexts.

Spring Term: Superheroes and Fairytales

We begin the new year by welcoming new friends to our class and settling back in after the Christmas break. We think about our hopes and wishes for the year and think of ideas for achieveing them!

Our first focus for the Spring term is 'Superheroes'! We share stories involving superheroes, take on many different superhero missions and think about what powers we would have if we were superheroes.
We also think about the people who help us; learning more about their jobs and valuing their importance within our community.

After the half-term holiday, we explore the winter season and enter a world of fairy tales! We explore a number of traditional fairy tales and engage in a variety of activities to help us learn these stories and better understand the key events and characters. In both the indoor and outdoor provision we use the resources on offer to retell these stories in a number of ways.

Throughout the term we also continue to follow and develop children's interests as they emerge through planning and provision. The children explore these interests in greater depth within a range of contexts and we link this to as many different areas of the EYFS as possible.

Summer Term: On the Farm and At the Seaside

We welcome our final Nursery starters for the year, beginning with an 'on the farm' topic. We learn more about which animals are born and live on the farm, exploring planting and growing and even watch the journey from egg to chick within our Nursery classroom. We learn about foods that come from the farm and play in our Farm Shop role-play area!

We finish the year with a Sports day and finally a party to celebtrate all the fun we have had, all the friends we have made and all the new things we have learnt.
