Autumn Term

Our History topic this term is The Tudors and the impact that they had on society at the time. We will undertake research into the rise of the Tudors and explore the different Kings and Queens of the time.  Although the main focus for this topic is History it will incorporate Art and English learning.

In Science topics will include Teeth and Digestion and Food Chains. Children will consider the food they eat and its pathway through the body.  Science work on food chains will look at predators and prey.

 

Year 4 Learning

Spring Term

In the Spring term our topics will have a Science focus.  In our Materials topic our learning will focus of solids, liquids and gas.  This will be followed by another Science topic on Electricty.

Geography is the focus of another topic this term and looks at Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Mountains.  Aspects of non-fiction writing from the English curriculum will also be included in this topic.

With an English focus, we shall be looking at some of the works of Roald Dahl. Learning will include, alliteration, similies, nonsense story, instruction and letter writing.

We continue with our weekly swimming lessons on Tuesdays so children can further develop their water confidence and swimming ability.

Summer Term

Our main topic this term will focus on the Stone Age period of history. We shall consider the limited evidence there is for this period in History and find out about the lives of Stone Age people. Although the main focus for this topic is History it will incorporate Art and English learning.

To conclude our Science learning we shall complete a mini topic on plants and animals.
