Welcome to Year 3!

This half term, Year 3 will be learning about...

In Maths this half-term we will be looking at place value, and the four rules of number. We will also be developing our mental maths skills. 

In English we will be focussing on spelling and handwriting. We wil also be looking at familiar settings and writing stories set in familiar settings. Handwriting will also be a focus and Children who can consistently join their handwriting will be awarded a pen license which means they can use a pen in class. 

In Science, we are studying Light and dark. We will be investigating shadows, learning about the structure of the eye and investigating reflection. 

In PE we wil be looking at non-contact games and refining our skills in hockey and in French we will be learning how to count from 1-10.

Kandinsky will be our artist in focus in Art and we will be creating pictures in the style of Kandisnky. We will also be creating Art inspired by Tutankhamun's death mask. In DT we will be using clay to design and make a cartouche

Year 3 Class Information

PE:

Outdoor PE: Black/grey joggers and a white T-shirt with green school jumper/cardigan. Please bring a hoodie to change into before the lesson.

Indoor PE: Black shorts and a white T-shirt with suitable indoor trainers/pumps.

Year 3M - Thursday - Outdoor PE

Homework:

Mental Maths tests and Punctuation and Grammar Tests will be sent home every Friday. This will allow your child to have a go at completing the tests at home before they are completed in class. Spellings are handed out on a Friday morning. Homework should be returned by Thursday of the following week. KS2 children who do not return their homework on time, will need to attend Homework Catch-Up on Thursday lunchtimes. There is a spelling test and a multiplication test on Friday mornings. Each term, Learning Logs will be sent home along with details for a project to be completed based on our topic for that term.
